I am always drawn to a grouping of similar objects, be it a
pile of
shoes, a pile of papers or a collection of figurines. I see a visual
power present in a collective or a grouping that can never be present
in the individual. Presently I have been including the figure in my
work, as I have an interest in the mass, the crowd and its unyielding
potential. Even a simple task of waiting for a train within a crowd
evokes a sense of unyielding potential. The combined force and power of
this crowd could push this vehicle to its destination. In an age of
mass consumption the consumption of the mass is intriguing.
The
arrangement of a repeated image to form a pattern is way of losing
sight of the individual but is recognition of the minds search for
order (a pattern) in a world of chaos.
